New study indicates vaping epidemic is behind younger adults being hospitalized with coronavirus

A recent medical study has found that vaping increases the risk of severe coronavirus infection by 1400% and may be fatal.

Sharing vaping devices is thought to spread the virus, while inhaling nicotine and THC vapor fast-tracks the coronavirus directly into the deepest parts of the lungs. Those who vape regularly may have already compromised the health of their lungs making it difficult for them to recover from such a dangerous respiratory illness.

Experts are now saying it’s time to quit vaping and never share devices with others.

The CDC reports that more than 40% of all hospitalized coronavirus victims are young and middle aged adults, between 20 and 54 years of age. This age group was thought to be at lower risk of severe infection from the coronavirus than seniors, but the data is indicating otherwise. Experts believe that vaping may be the cause.

Vaping nicotine and THC can cause inflammation and damage lung tissue. This damage makes it more difficult for them to fight off the virus’ invasion and cause much more serious and permanent damage.

“When someone’s lungs are exposed to flu or other infections the adverse effects of smoking or vaping are much more serious than among people who do not smoke or vape,” wrote Dr Stanton Glantz of the University of California, San Francisco.

It’s been known for some time now though that smoking and vaping can have a negative impact on the immune system and make young adults more vulnerable to coronavirus, which in turn increases the severity of the damage done to their lungs by smoking or vaping.
