February 10, 2021 –San Diego, Ca. Reports across the country are showing a very disturbing trend, the rise of sex abuse against children.

Since the COVID-19 pandemic which has closed schools almost entirely, and left children at home, many have fallen victims to sex crimes.

According to data from RAINN, the Rape, Abuse and Incest National Network, they reported a staggering increase of 22% of monthly calls from people under the age of 18, and nearly half of the calls were from minors. The numbers also go to highlight these frightening statics: 67% named a family member as the perpetrator, and 79% were living with that perpetrator.

Our lawyers at Schmidt National Law Group are highly concerned about this epidemic of child abuse, and we will help any victim of sexual abuse no matter when or what state the sexual abuse took place.

Child sex abuse isn’t just taking place at home

While the numbers have greatly increased for home child sex abuse, other mainstream groups organizations, clubs, youth sports and universities have also seen a rise in reported sex abuse and sex crimes.  It was only a couple years ago that major news outlets exposed the terrible wide spread abuse in the Catholic churches.

Because many of these church organizations hid or manipulated reporting of sexual abuse, courts may choose to not apply any statute of limitations for filing sexual abuse claims, even years later you can still file a clergy abuse lawsuit.
